Indira Gandhi Maternity Support Plan (I.G.M.S.Y.)
In the financial year 2010-11, in 52 districts of the country, implementation of Indira Gandhi Maternity support yojna has been approved on experimental basis by the Government of India. Two districts - Sagar and Chhindwara of Madhyapradesh have been selected for the scheme.
The plan has been approved for implementation on 24th September 2011 by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Women and Child Development Department. The plan is being implemented in villages by Anganwadi Centers through the structure of Integrated Child Development Service scheme.
The purpose of the plan is to partially compensate the loss of wages for pregnant and lactating women before and after the birth of their baby and to improve the status of health and nutrition of pregnant and lactating women, Pregnant and lactating women of 19 years of age or older are eligible for their first two live babies, in the scheme. A total amount of Rs.4000/- in three installments is being given to women who fulfills the set terms and conditions, up to the six months age of their babies, in the scheme. Rs.200/- to Anganwadi Worker and Rs.100/- to Assistant on the basis of per beneficiary, is given as incentive amount, after completing the task.
I.G.M.S.Y. is being operated in 4835 Anganwadi Centers of 30 Integrated Child Development Projects in Sagar and Chhindwara districts. A total of 19858 beneficiaries have been benefited until December 2012, in the financial year 2012-13, and an amount of Rs.8951.32 Lakh has been spent for it.
